Philippines going to Japan to train for SEA Games

In preparation for the 26th edition of the SEA Games which will be hosted by Indonesia at the end of the year, Philippines are planning to head to Japan as a possible training ground.
Mariano Araneta, the president of the Phillipines Football Federation (PFF) confirmed that Japan is a possible destination for a week training session in October.

After missing out on the last two editions of the SEA Games in 2009 (Laos) and 2007 (Thailand), renewed confidence in the Philippines national team at the last AFF Suzuki Cup 2010 has prodded their participation for the Jakarta meet.

With several experienced players from the senior squad like goalkeeper Neil Etheridge and midfielders Jason de Jong, Manuel Ott, Yannick Tuason and Simon Greatwich still eligible for the SEA Games, hopes are rife that the Philippines U23 squad might just get on the podium for the first time in their history.
